M
I S S I O N S
We
are a mission-minded church. We are concerned for and involved
in the lives of people around the world through our missions,
which are monies (exceeding $43,000 per year) that we give to
the missions and service programs of the total United Methodist
Church. Additionally, we support with our time and resources a
number of local, national and international concerns including
Florida United Methodist Children's Home, Red Bird Mission, SHARE,
CROP Walk, Hallandale Food Pantry and our Angel Tree Christmas
gift program.

Our
Mission is to inform and educate our congregation regarding missions.
To encourage individuals and groups to work together in the church
on mission projects as well as to work with other churches on
mission projects.
Each
one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,
faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. --1
Peter 4:10
The Missions Committee coordinates the promotion, collection,
and logistics of donations of new and used items to raise money

CELEBRATE
JESUS!
The
hallmark of a Celebrate Jesus
Mission is clarity of the vision to intentionally move toward
full obedience to the Great Commission. Celebrate Jesus is about
having a heart for the lost and the hopeless, it is about desiring
for them to know Jesus, it is about recovering connection to
the community. We are not to be so busy saving our own lives
(trying to survive in the four walls of our churches), but we
are to let go of ourselves (lose our lives) for the sake of
the gospel of Jesus Christ
then and only then will life
and vibrancy come in our churches
Has
God been touching your heart to go on a Celebrate Jesus mission
this summer? This time it will be held in the Deland Area Mission July 21-28, 2007. Lives are
changed! For more information or an application form go to Celebrate
Jesus or application forms are available at our information
table. $100 per person or $150 for a family.

HEIFER
INTERNATIONAL
Heifer
International works
to end world hunger and save the earth. For more than 60
years, Heifer has helped more than seven million impoverished
families in 128 countries lift themselves out of poverty
and achieve self-esteem.
Families
are taught how to care for the animals and they pass on
offspring of their animals to neighbors spreading the bnefits
in a growing circle of life and hope.
Our
goal is to raise $5,000 to purchase another ark of animals.
It is amazing to be able to offer struggling families around
the world and in the U.S. the ability to lift themselves
up to self-reliaance through the gifts of livestock--dairy
cows, goats, sheep, llamas, chicks and ducks, rabbits and
water buffalo.

SHARE
(Self Help and Resource Exchange)
To involve community-minded people in a monthly food distribution
network that has a greater social impact than they will
ever find in a local supermarket. Participants are committed
to perform voluntary acts of kindness while saving money
on their groceries.
Therefore, if there is any consolation
in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of
the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy
by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one
accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish
ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each
esteem others better than himself. ---Philippians 2:1-4
